OCTOBER GOALS: How Did I Do?
Setting monthly goals is a habit that I am developing. I started last month and this is my first update!
I’m not keeping exact track of the days when I didn’t wake up early or exercise 5 days a week. I know in general I’m doing them more than not. That’s good enough for me personally right now. Eventually I may keep a chart just out of curiosity, but I want to keep a posture of grace rather than legalism.
- I do know that I slept at least 6 hours every night in October except one.
- I’ve meal planned each week through October.
- I did do a mini-decluttering project: our nightstands.
- I did NOT do much work in the basement. My husband has started a project with the boys which I love. The project makes a bit of a mess, which I don’t love.
- Screen Free Sundays has been relaxed a bit since school started. Our family has a no video game/screens (except what is necessary for school projects) during the week so we’ve allowed them some time on screens on Sunday afternoons.
- I posted 2x/week for 3 out of 4 weeks in October.
- I finished my pin descriptions! I’ve learned my lesson and will be adding a pin description with each new pin I add from my blog.
- Hubby and I DID NOT get a “get out of the house” date night in October. We’ll have to make that a priority for November – and write it down on the calendar!
- We did have our 1:1 times with our sons.
- I got my haircut!
- My optometrist appointment is scheduled for the first week of November after being rescheduled a few times already!
November Goals:
SPIRITUAL GOALS:
- Continue to follow my 5x5x5 Bible Reading Plan
- Pray for my husband and children using these prayer calendars
- Take 10 slow, deep breaths in the morning. Silent prayer and meditation.
PERSONAL GOALS:
- Exercise 5 days (running at least 2 of those days). I’m running an 8K on 11/21 with a few friends so I need to up the running a bit.
- Sleep at least 6 hours a night.
- Write down 3 things I’m grateful for daily
HOUSEHOLD GOALS:
- Meal Plan dinner for the weeknights
- One mini decluttering project
- Work at least 15 minutes in the basement with hubby
- Participate in the 30 day minimalism game as a family. (I’d love for you to join me! There are several other bloggers doing this as well. Read the post to find out how to join the Facebook group!
Writing GOALS:
- Post at least twice a week on my blog
- One guest post for the month on another person’s blog
- Contribute an old post on Huffington Post. I was so excited to become a contributor to Huffington Post. You can find my entries so far here.
- Figure out how to use Ahalogy and Tailwind. If you’re a blogger and you have great tips on either (especially Ahalogy) please let me know in the comments! I will be so grateful!
MONTHLY GOALS:
- Date night with hubby (where we actually go out of the house together…without kids)
- One on one outings with each son.
- Self-care: schedule my annual mammogram
If I don’t write these self-care “to do’s” down, they will continually be pushed to the bottom of the list in the midst of all the other “to do’s”. I know other moms will know what I’m talking about!
What are some goals that you have for November?
This post will be shared at these fabulous link-ups.
Great going on goals, Angela!
I do hope you and hubby get your date night this month!!
Keep up the excellent work! You got this!
Thanks for the encouraging words Melinda! I hope we get out too! It’s funny because if I hadn’t written it down as a goal, I don’t know if we would have realized that we hadn’t had a date during the month. Life gets busy around here when school starts.
Went over to Huffpost and read. But didn’t see place to comment.
Melinda
I think you have to hit the green comment button? Thanks for going over and trying to comment!
Well done for a great October! I like that you’re not keeping a strict tally of your goals. If you don’t manage something every day but feel like you’re heading in the right direction, that’s a win far more important than having a checklist of what you did and when.
I’m lpoking forward to following your November achievements now!
And obviously by “lpoking” I mean “looking”…
Yes! Got that!
Thank you Eva. I’m glad you’re in favor of not keeping a strict tally – we must be of the same relaxed disposition! 🙂
Great job on your goals! Thanks for sharing them over on my November Goals post. That is great that you have 1:1 time with your children on your goal list. So important!
I have found mini-decluttering projects to be much easier and less overwhelming than huge projects. I am with you on that one!
I haven’t used Ahalogy, but have done a trial with Boardbooster for Pinterest and like it so far! It’s pretty intuitive.
Enjoy your week!
Thanks for reading Emily! I think I’m starting to figure Ahalogy out! I’m with BB now and do like it, but need more pins and am trying to use a free option if it’s available.
If you can, schedule your next mammogram before you leave the office. You can always move it if you need to but that’s WAY easier than remembering to schedule it in the first place.
That’s a great tip. I always say I’ll call the office because I don’t usually have my paper calendar with me, but it’s true that scheduling and then changing may be easier.
This is really inspiring! I do set myself little goals for each day, but writing them down to follow up on them is so much better! I should really do this as well!
Thanks Chrissy! Yes, I do daily checklists too. This is my attempt at thinking bigger picture and writing it all down. Let me know if you start!
Looks like some great goals! Best of luck to you!
Thanks Alexandra.
Awesome goals! I really love the one on one time with each of your sons. I’m trying to do something similar with my two kids, to give them so special time. Good luck on your goals this month!
Thank you Danielle! The 1:1 times are really necessary in our busy household, especially as they become teens!
Sounds like you did great in October. I haven’t even set my November goals yet!
Thanks Shann.
Good luck with all of your goals!! You can do it!
Thank you Chelsie
I think you did a great job on your goals!
I definitely agree with a good chunk of your goals for this month, especially the writing of what you’re grateful for. So important to remember that.

Thanks Liz. It’s really easy to take the simple things for granted isn’t it?
Hi Angela! I’m popping over from The Alder Collective.. 🙂 Thanks for sharing! I looove your quote “keep a posture of grace rather than legalism”! And, congrats on being a contributor to Huffington Post! How did you go about doing that?
Hi Ciara! Thank you!
It’s always nice to see someone else’s goals. This makes me think that I should make up my own list. Thank you for sharing. What a great idea to try and guest post once a month. I never thought of making that a goal, but it’s a great one. Found your site on Alder Collection.
Hi Valerie, it really does help motivate and keep me centered. Thanks for stopping by!
Hey! I just found your blog on the Alder Collective- so sweet. I love goal setting because it really helps motivate me, I hate disappointing myself! This month one of my goals is to stick to our budget and be intentional about our finances. I also want to be able to soak in the holidays and time with family 🙂
Hi Aleah! I’m starting to love goal setting. One of my next goals is to get serious about our budget too. Thanks for dropping by!
