Happy New Year! It’s been a wonderfully refreshing time of resting, reconnecting, and yummy food for the past week. I hope you had a chance to step out of the normal routine and celebrate in a meaningful way with your loved ones.
I love looking back at the previous year on New Years Eve. Last year I summarized my top five posts in 2015 and it was really fun to see what people enjoyed reading. Here are the top five posts in 2016 according to Google Analytics!
Top 5 Posts in 2016
Blogging in 2016 felt easier in a lot of ways. Enrolling in Elite Blog Academy guided me in important ways behind the scenes throughout the year. It served as a road map which I really appreciated.
I am also SO thankful for the connections with readers and other bloggers that I’ve made in the past year. I truly appreciate every reader and every comment. Thank you for being here.
Number 5
So, at #5, we have Editing our Clothes with the KonMari Method, Part 1. This was actually the #2 post in 2015 and it continues to interest people. I recently started watching Marie Kondo coaching people in the United States use her method to declutter on YouTube. It reminded me of how powerful decluttering from a joy perspective can be. It was also the inspiration for my word for 2017.
You can find Part 2 here – where we actually go through the process with our own clothes!
Number 4
Coming in at #4 is Meal Planning for Beginners – Step 1. I remember writing this post after reading several meal plans from other bloggers. Instead of staying in my frustrated state, I finally decided to write about it and take action. I knew I probably wasn’t the only one who had tried meal planning before and “failed.” There are some free printables at the bottom of the post to help you get started too!
Number 3
Coming in at #3 is How to go from Poor to Rich in One Day. This is one of my favorite posts. I’m preaching to myself in this post. Our hearts are easily dissatisfied when we fall into comparison and envy. The practice of gratitude and the perspective discussed in this post are the cure.
Number 2
Coming in at #2 is another meal planning post – Stress Free Meal Planning for Beginners. This simple way of meal planning has helped us stay on budget, and really does provide a more peaceful household at 5pm. Starting where you are and what your family already enjoys is the key to meal planning for beginners. I’m happy to say we’ve been using this system ever since and it’s become part of our weekly routine.
Number 1
And finally, the top post of 2016 was….10 Lessons Learned After a Year of Decluttering. I loved writing this post after reading through all of my decluttering posts in January of 2015. The lessons within this post are points that I need to remind myself of all year long. For a FREE printable of the post, sign up for our VIP Resource Library!

What has been something in your “Top 5” from 2016? I’d love to know!
This post shared at these link ups.
I’m totally checking out that decluttering post! I have told my husband time and time again that we will never be like our parents, who have junk EVERYWHERE. So best to prevent it before it happens, right?!
Yes! If you can prevent the clutter from starting – that’s absolutely the best!
#3 is my personal fave!
An attitude of gratitude, is making all the difference for me!
Thanks Melinda! Gratitude is a practice that is something I’ll continue working on in 2017 as well.
I love that meal planning has been such a hit! It is so important and makes a big difference in how I eat all week. 🙂
I think so too! It has really made a big difference in our family’s life and budget.
My personal top 5 obviously includes welcoming baby #3. As for your blog, I know it was at the end of the year, but I’m still thinking about your post about your one word for 2017. It’s definitely a favorite!
Thanks Abby! I’m sure baby #3 was a wonderful highlight to 2016! Congratulations!
I’m a big fan of de-cluttering. My husband and I have always been minimalists so it’s nice to suddenly be ‘on trend’ with how we live our lives. I’m also working on de-cluttering my headspace this year – that’s a big one for me.
That’s wonderful Leanne – I wish minimalism was something I had discovered earlier in life! Decluttering headspace is a great goal for 2017.
That’s wonderful Leanne. What a great goal for this year – I love the idea of intentionally decluttering your headspace.
So many great posts here. I’m actually moving toward priority-based goals this year. So far that has been VERY difficult, because I’m so used to butting up against deadlines. Thanks again for sharing at the #happynowlinkup!
Great top 5 posts. I’m in the middle of a cleaning/organizing challenge and also trying my hand at freezer meals, so these resonate with me. Thanks for sharing on Merry Monday.
Thanks Erlene! I’d love to try freezer meals so I’ll check that out! Thanks for reading and commenting -I appreciate it!
I love decluttering! I really like your tip in your #1 post about getting rid of furniture that basically just houses things. It’s hard being creative and not hoarding things but, selling my items gives me the freedom to get my creativity out AND get rid of items I don’t need or have the room for! Thanks for sharing with us at Funtastic Friday!
That’s a great attitude Angie!
What a great list of posts! Thanks so much for linking to #homematters linky party.
We are on a huge decluttering mission at the moment to claim back space. I’m terrible for hanging onto things, but it’s so freeing once you’ve bit the bullet and got rid of so much stuff. January is always the best time of year for me to do it too – for some reason I’m more attracted to a fresh start and less in the mindset of hanging onto things. Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove
I agree Katy – January seems to be a big time for decluttering. Out with the old! It’s true that once you get started it’s much easier to continue!
I’m happy to have found your blog! I am currently writing a “Let’s Get Organized” series, not because I’m good at it, but because I’m NOT and have been researching ways to improve! I’ll be subscribing! If you get a free moment, I love to get the feedback of those who truly ARE organized! http://www.carolinatwinmom.com/blog/

Oh my goodness Mary – thank you for that compliment! I actually don’t get mistaken for someone who is truly organized! I’m slowly learning and putting habits in place to make it feel “more natural.” I’ll be checking out your series as well!
We’ve just moved house and as we unpack those boxes of stuff that you have no clue what to do with I’m questioning if we need it. It’s so refreshing, Thank you for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove X
That’s a great mindset to have Laura! I frequently wish we WERE moving so it would force us to quickly question each and every item within a time frame. Slow and stead decluttering is working for us though in the meantime!
I always love posts like these. It’s fun to see what everyone is reading! Thanks for sharing with us at Share The Wealth Sunday!
